HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY

Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a safe therapy that raises the level of oxygen in the blood.

This means higher levels of oxygen delivered to the body’s tissues and vital organs; stimulating healing processes; increasing stamina and endurance; promoting relaxation and a state of balance and well-being.

What is a hyperbaric oxygen chamber?

Oxygen is vital for all the body’s essential functions. Which can be thrown out of balance if the body’s oxygen uptake is deficient (hypoxic).

Many bacteria, parasites, toxins and viruses have one thing in common – they cannot survive in an oxygen rich environment. Mild hyperbaric oxygen chambers are simple enclosures, which are pressurised to allow the person inside to experience atmospheric pressures greater than normal.

The increased barometric pressure makes the air denser, providing more oxygen molecules per unit. The normal use of oxygen forces oxygen only into the red blood cells, which usually carry oxygen. However, the administration of high-pressure oxygen forces oxygen into the blood plasma, the liquid part of the blood.

What is the process of hyperbaric oxygen therapy?

Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy takes place inside an inflatable chamber.

When the chamber inflates the pressure increases. This is the time when you may experience a sensation in your ears (similar to ascending or descending on a plane) and will need to equalise. Once the chamber is at full pressure, this sensation ceases and you can relax and enjoy your treatment.

In the chamber, it is advisable to wear loose comfortable clothing. You can sleep, meditate, use your laptop, read or listen to music.

After the treatment, you may carry on with your day as normal. You are also able to eat and drink as soon as the treatment finishes.

Is hyperbaric oxygen therapy safe?

Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy is very safe. The mild hyperbaric chamber uses filtered ambient air, so there is no risk of oxygen toxicity to the body even with regular use.

The chamber can be depressurized and opened from the inside. Once inside the chamber, both verbal and visual communication is possible with our attendant. We have a safety buzzer inside the chamber that you can activate to alert our staff should you wish.

No dangerous side effects have been reported with mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

It is recommended to postpone your appointment should you be suffering ear canal problems, ear infection, glaucoma, if you are intoxicated or you have cold or flu symptoms.
