COSMETIC PRP
The "Vampire Facial"
Cosmetic PRP is a revolutionary cosmetic treatment that rejuvenates the skin, resulting in a youthful appearance.
Also known as the ‘Vampire Facial’ or ‘Vampire Facelift’, it has been made famous by celebrities such as Angelina Jolie and Kim Kardashian. Having developed a cult following amongst celebrities in Hollywood and New York, the treatment is now available here in Australia at Surecell. Surecell cosmetic PRP tubes are also available for purchase here.
What does the process involve?
-
A nurse will take your blood (like a normal blood test).
-
The blood is then spun in a centrifuge to isolate the PRP which contains a large concentration of growth factors and platelets integral to healing and regeneration.
-
The area to be treated is washed and local anaesthetic cream is applied.
-
The PRP is then injected directly into the area to be treated.
The whole process takes approximately 60 minutes.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do cosmetic PRP injections cost?
The cost of PRP injections depends on the results you want to achieve and the type of treatment (injections, dermarolling 'vampire facial', etc.). Call us at 03 9822 9996 to book in a free consultation to discuss your treatment options and the cost.
How many injections will I need for cosmetic PRP?
We recommend starting with one course of cosmetic PRP injections, which involves 3 injections, one month apart.
Are there any side effects with cosmetic PRP injections?
Some people experience mild bruising in the area of treatment, which may take several days to disappear. Some swelling may also be expected in the next 24-48 hours after receiving cosmetic PRP. These are all common side effects. As we are unable to determine how your skin will react to PRP injections for the first time, we recommend that patients come in at least 2 weeks before a big event.
When can I expect to see improvements after getting cosmetic PRP injections?
Most people notice an immediate improvement in the quality of their skin (skin turgor and elasticity) after their first cosmetic PRP treatment. Collagen and elastin production can take up to three months to occur.
How do I know if I am a suitable candidate for cosmetic PRP in Melbourne?
The best way to find out if you are a suitable candidate for cosmetic PRP is to book a consultation with us. When you come in for your consultation, we will assess your skin and find out more about the results you want to achieve with cosmetic PRP injections, such as fading acne scars, softening wrinkles and/or hyperpigmentation. If you decide to go ahead with the treatment, we are able to do it on the day itself.
Are cosmetic PRP injections painful?
Local anaesthetic cream is applied to the face 30-40 minutes prior to cosmetic PRP injections. There may be a momentary pressure effect from the injection of the fluid. There is no cause for concern, as our cosmetic PRP doctors and nurses are skilled at mitigating discomfort as much as possible.
What type of procedures are available with cosmetic PRP?
Cosmetic PRP procedures include mesotherapy, microneedling and targeted injections.
