Wang et al. (2013)

Keywords: Rheumatoid Arthritis, Mesenchymal Stem Cells, Cytotherapy, Regulatory T Cells

This study looks at the use of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSC’s) for patients with RA.  Results showed UC-MSC’s were a safe and effective method for reducing disease activity long-term.  Improvements such as decreased expression levels of various inflammatory cytokines and chemokines as well as increased regulatory T cell levels were noted.
